Join us for Food, Fun, an informative talk, plus Live Music at Ravena Coeyman’s Yacht Club in Ravena. Hudson River Historic Boat Restoration & Sailing Society’s Annual Membership Meeting is Saturday, September 12 from 1-5pm. Members and non-members alike are invited. We’re sailing the catboat Good Intent up to the gathering and will offer rides, plus others are bringing boats of all kinds, too, for more maritime fun. Bring one if you got it!
Ann Loeding, an ultra-experienced tugboat captain who worked her way up from deckhand, will be giving a talk called Safe Navigation Around Large Vessels, “where I basically talk about how a trip up the river looks from the wheelhouse of a large tow and describe some of the stuff that power boat operators may not know about conditions aboard the tug. I have an ever-growing list of “Dumbass” and “Darwinian” mistakes that I have seen small boats make and those can serve as instructive sea stories.” Not to be missed!
Then there’s live music by Rick and Marilyn, Hudson’s own Rick Warren and Marilyn Miller, plus the incomparable Mike Pagnani with an assortment of sea shanties and more. They’ll be singing and so will the rest of us.
It’s potluck so plan to bring something you’ll like and others will, too. We’ll have beverages and more. No charge but donations to HRHB are welcome. Ravena is up the river on the west side, just north of Coxhackie.
